On Monday, July 20 Family Promise of Waukesha County waived our last contingencies on our offer to purchase a new facility. This facility would become a new Day Center. This means that everything is in place for us to close on the property July 31. Of course, anything can happen until all the paperwork is signed, but the likelihood of Family Promise securing this new facility and moving to Waukesha is very high.
Our objective is simple: to better serve families experiencing homelessness. The benefits of having a Day Center in Waukesha are:
- Access to public transportation
- Can serve families without a vehicle
- Offer expanded possibilities for employment, housing, childcare and schools.
- Provide easy access to other social service agencies.
- Privacy for families and staff.
- Nearby schools and parks
- Mortgage payment will be lower than our current rent.
- Allow us to provide workshops for families
There are also opportunities for volunteers. In order to prepare the facility for us to move in we have a few work days coming up. Please sign up for the day and tasks that best fit your availability and skill set.
